TNG receives 2 awards at the 19th Total Quality Congress of HPH Mexico



The shipyard was a 4-time nominee in the categories of Innovation and Occupational Health and Safety.

Talleres Navales del Golfo (TNG), subsidiary of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), participated in the 19th Total Quality Congress of HPH Mexico that took place on Thursday, August 25th, where Mr. Jorge Magno Lecona, handed over the Executive Direction Award for Quality and Continuous Improvement to the business units at the group: CCI, ECV, EIT, ICAVE, LCT, TILH, TIMSA and TNG.

In such event, authorities from the General Direction of Merchant Marine, clients and staff from HPH gathered to witness the group’s efforts to encourage innovative and cutting-edge projects focused on improve the processes and services that the different terminals offer. The Comprehensive Automation Project from ICAVE “Virtual Operation System” was the one that stood out the most.

Moments after, they proceeded to the award ceremony with the recognition of the best Improvement Projects implemented in the HPH group, where TNG obtained the Award for Occupational Health and Safety, for its results obtained with the “Risk and Accident decrease program” and the Innovation Award for the competitive development of their new line of service denominated “Ship outfitting”

The results hereby obtained are just a sample of our great work performed constantly by the company’s team, on one side “Ship outfitting” is one of the 7 new services the shipyard has diversified in 2016, a success case that was born with the construction of 4 tugboats for PEMEX and became a business model now replicated in most of the repair works that come to TNG thanks to the expertise of our people and the quality of the works performed; On the other side, the department of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Protection  (SOSYPA) has paid an effort to reinforce the security of the works and accident prevention inside TNG…” expressed Jose Antonio Sardiña Aguirre, General Manager at TNG.

Finally, the evening was adorned with the presence of Ricardo “ Finito “ Lopez, who , in his conference narrated the reason of his success  through 18 years of career as profesional boxer.
